Space Availability Information
We offer several daily departures between Woods Hole and Martha's Vineyard on our traditional ferries. On Martha's Vineyard, our main year-round port is Vineyard Haven.
We offer traditional and high-speed passenger-only ferry service between the mainland port of Hyannis and the Island of Nantucket.
We offer service between the mainland (Cape Cod) port of Woods Hole and the Island of Martha's Vineyard, as well as between the mainland port of Hyannis and the Island of Nantucket.
On Martha's Vineyard, service is provided year-round at Vineyard Haven (VH) and seasonally at Oak Bluffs (OB). The ports are approximately 3 miles apart.

Wait List
The Steamship Authority’s vehicle reservation wait list
utilizes a computerized search for space based on cancellations or
changes. Requests are honored on a first-come, first-served basis,
and changes are updated automatically. The wait list system
continues to check up to up until the date you want to travel. If
your plans change, it is important to cancel your wait list request
to avoid any unwanted changes or charges.
When you sign up for a wait list reservation, you’ll receive a wait list confirmation with the dates and times you have requested. Please check this information carefully for accuracy.
If your wait list reservation time becomes available more than one week in advance of your trip, we will notify you by email or mail, whichever you have specified at the time of your reservation. Wait list reservation matches made less than a week from your travel date will be confirmed by email and telephone. (Please be sure that you have provided us with all necessary contact information.) Wait list reservation updates can also be viewed on our Online Vehicle Reservation Site.
Wait list matches (one-way or round-trip) are subject to all cancellation and change policies. If you’ve requested a wait list reservation, you should check your final reservation by online or by phone 24 hours ahead of your travel date, in case we have been unable to reach you to confirm your changes.
Unaccompanied Vehicle Drive-On/Drive-Off Service
Unaccompanied Vehicle Drive-On/Drive-Off Service is available
between Hyannis and Nantucket. You can use this service to
transport your vehicle if you have not been able to obtain a
reservation for your desired travel time. Passengers may either
use our traditional ferries with a sailing time of 2 hours and
15 minutes or use our high-speed passenger-only ferry with a
sailing time of 1 hour.
Standby to Martha’s Vineyard
The Steamship Authority accepts vehicles
for standby travel on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note, that standby travel is not guaranteed.
Standby vehicles are not accepted during Reservation Only Periods for travel between Woods Hole and Martha’s Vineyard, see dates listed below.
