The Steamship Authority is seeking to fill the position of Financial and Data Analyst who will assist in preparing monthly and yearly financial statements, execute data queries to prepare custom reports as needed, assist with the annual budget and audit, and maintain system users and roles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide quality assurance of imported data, including creation, updates, and deletion.  Runs system queries from the Accounting System, Reservation System, Parking Lot System, and other financial systems.

* Manages system(s) users and user roles.

* Works with the Accounting Manager, Internal Audit Manager in developing the Accounting System policies and procedures.

* Responsible for the timely reporting of the monthly financial statements, cash status reports and cost center data.

* Assists in the preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements.

* Responsible for review and analysis of financial statements.

* Develop special cost studies and reports as requested.

* Develops automated reporting and forecasting tools.

* Participates in the preparation of the annual budget.

* Assists in the preparation of all third-party audit schedules.

* Reviews and approves accounts payable transactions.

* Authorized signatory of checks.  Reviews and approves inter-bank fund transfers.

* Performs other special projects and duties as required by supervisor.

 

Required Knowledge:

* Technical competence in the position function as developed by college education, at least through Bachelor's Degree level in accounting, finance or computer science, and a minimum of three years experience in the various disciplines.

* Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets.

* Ability to identify and define new process improvement opportunities.

* In-depth knowledge of the internal audit process and responsibilities.

* Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).

* High-level written and verbal communication skills.

* Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases.

* Ability to communicate with and perform the department responsibilities as they relate to other levels of management within the Steamship Authority.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Office Suite products.

* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
