Communications and Marketing Summer Intern
Communications and Marketing Summer Intern
Named one of the Best Places to Work by Cape & Plymouth Business Media!
The Steamship Authority has a full-time summer opportunity on the communications and marketing team. The focus of this position will be on production services, assisting with design and layout of various digital and print products, as well as graphic design. Additional tasks may include assisting with content creation for our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn), traveling on board ferries and to our five terminals for various departmental taks, and assistance with live events. This isn't just a desk job. Applicants must be comfortable with some physical tasks including packing boxes, setting up for events and other hands-on projects.
Ideal candidates should be proficient in graphic design and page design and be familiar with Adobe Suite. We currently do not use Canva for production. Additional skills that will be valuable include writing, photography, and social media content creation. Successful candidates will be collaborative, be able to independently work with minimal direction, and have a customer-focused work ethic. Students or recent graduates of a journalism, communications, design or marketing program should particularly consider applying.
This is not a remote position. The individual would report to our office in Falmouth but could travel to any of the Authority's properties and on board its vessels on a regular basis. Some night and weekend work will be required, and the candidate must have access to his or her own vehicle for transportation to and from the Authority's properties (with mileage and expenses reimbursed).
The length of internship is flexible but through mid-August is preferred, with a shift to part-time work possible to accommodate school scheduling. Starting salary is $19.00 per hour.
On or off the water, the Steamship Authority is a great place to work! Come help us promote the hard work our company does to be the Lifeline to the islands.
Please submit a cover letter, resume, and a portfolio of recent work (or link to an online portfolio) to hr@steamshipauthority.com.
