Notice of Public Hearing on a Proposal to Provide Tug and Barge Freight Service between New Bedford and Nantucket

The Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority (“the Authority”) will hold a public hearing on the application of 41 North Offshore, LLC (“41N”) to operate a tug and barge freight service between New Bedford and Nantucket, commencing on or about May 17, 2022 and ending October 19, 2022. 41N proposes to operate its tug and barge freight service two (2) to five (5) trips per week, Monday through Friday only, with a weekly average of three (3) trips per week. One (1) to five (5) tractor trailer equivalent units would transit each way on its barge with an average of 1 ¼ units transiting from New Bedford to Nantucket and 1 ¾ units transiting from Nantucket to New Bedford on the return leg of the trip.

The hearing will take place before the Authority’s scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM. The Authority’s staff will be available and present at its Administrative Office’s first floor meeting room, located at 228 Palmer Avenue, Falmouth, Massachusetts 02540. The public is encouraged and invited to attend and be heard virtually.

The Authority also encourages the public to submit written comments regarding 41N’s application. All comments from the public must be received by the Authority’s General Manager, Robert B.
