Posted: October 10, 2019

The Falmouth Department of Public Works will be performing work on its water main project on Oct. 15-17 that will affect the traffic flow to and from the Steamship Authority's Woods Hole terminal.

The work is planned to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday at the intersection of Locust and Main streets. A detour has been established to accommodate all traffic, including trucks, during this time. The detour is as follows:

Going south: from Palmer Avenue, turn left down Katherine Lee Bates Road to Shore Street, across Main Street and down Shore Street to Surf Drive. Take Surf Drive to Mill Road and Mill Road to Locust Street/Woods Hole Road.

Going north: take Woods Hole Road to Mill Road, turn right and go to Surf Drive. Follow Surf Drive until it bends left and turns into Shore Street; cross Main Street and turn left on Katherine Lee Bates Road until you return to Palmer Avenue.

The area will be open to local traffic from either end.
