Director of Security

The Steamship Authority is currently seeking to fill the position of Director of Security.  This is a full-time, non-union position working primarily from the Steamship Authority's Administrative Office Building in Falmouth, MA.  The Director of Security shall have general knowledge through training or equivalent job experience in the following:

*  Security administration and organization of the company vessels and facilities

*  Vessel, facility and port operations relevant to the passenger vessel industry

*  Vessel and facility security measures, including the meaning and the consequential requirements of the different MARSEC levels

*  Emergency preparedness and response and contingency planning

*  Security equipment and systems and their operational limitations (as it applies to his/her operation)

*  Methods of conducting audits, inspection and control and monitoring techniques

*  Techniques for security training and education including security measures and procedures

*  Relevant regulations

*  Methodology of Security Sensitive Information and related communications

*  Knowledge of current security threats and patterns

*  Techniques used to circumvent security measures

*  Methods of screening

*  Security drills and exercises and their assessment

*  Knowledge of TWIC requirements

Responsibilities will include:

*  Keeping the vessels and facilities apprised of potential threats or other information relevant to their security

*  Ensuring the Vessel and Facility Security Assessments are carried out

*  Ensuring that vessel and facility security activities are audited

*  Arrange for Coast Guard inspections in accordance with 46 CFR part 2

*  Ensuring the timely or prompt correction of problems identified by audits or inspections

*  Enhancing the security awareness and vigilance within the operation

*  Ensuring relevant personnel receive adequate security training

*  Ensure communication and cooperation between the vessels and the facilities

*  Ensure the TWIC program is being properly implemented

Additional Responsibilities will include:

Port Security Grant Program - 

*  Manage the annual security funding application through FEMA

*  Submit quarterly financial reports, semi-annual progress reports and FEMA audit

Investigative Assistance - 

*  Respond to public requests, customer complaints

*  Participation in USCG Area Committee and area security committees and sub-groups

*  Participation in PVA Safety and Security Committee, TSA initiatives, Bristol County Security Committee
