The Steamship Authority is seeking to fill the position of Facilities Maintenance Manager.  This position is responsible for maintenance oversight of the Authority's six terminals, vessel maintenance facility, docks, buildings and parking facilities.  This position is also responsible for developing the budget, specifications, plans, contracts, proposals and purchase orders; review and approve plans and specifications prepared by consultants.  Person will administer all shore side construction contracts through completion, ensuring that the Steamship Authority complies with all applicable Massachusetts building codes and Handicapped Access Regulations and also the Department of Environmental Quality Engineering Rules and Regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*  Develop bid documents, negotiate, supervise and coordinate the performance and scheduling of contractors.

*  Coordinate with Vessel Maintenance Supervisor all work to be conducted by in-house resources using the TAG Computerized Maintenance Management System.  Maintain prioritized work lists for accomplishment by in-house resources.

*  Develop, schedule and maintain preventative maintenance data for the terminals, wharves, buildings and parking facilities using the TAG Computerized Maintenance Management System.

*  Maintain and update the Database, records and publications pertaining to repairs and equipment at the terminals, buildings, wharves, on-site and off-site parking facilites. 

*  Perform periodic inspections of the terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities ot include maintenance and repair, safety, health and cleanliness.

*  Investigate to determine the cause of and recommend corrective actions to be taken on casualties or damage to terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities.

*  Establish and maintain a long term planning schedule for terminals, buildings, docks and parking facilities.

*  Provide liaison with the insurance underwriters on the review and inspection of terminals, buildings, docks, and parking facilities.

*  Responsible for disposal of all excess property in accordance with the Authority's applicable procedures.

*  Responsible for assisting with the Authority's environmental regulatory compliance to ensure operations and maintenance activities comply with both Federal and Massachusetts rules and regulations.  Maintain all applicable records for regulatory review at all times.

*  Keep supervisor informed on the status of all ongoing projects.

*  Attend weekly department meetings as directed.

*  Respond to emergency situations outside of normal work hours.

*  Develop, with the Director of Operations, the annual maintenance and repairs budget for the Authority's terminals, wharves, buildings and parking facilities.

*  Assist with coverage at the Authority's Fairhaven Maintenance Facility as required.

*  Fulfill the duties and responsibilities which may be delegated by the Director of Operations.

*  Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Required Knowledge:

*  B.S. in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering, plus 3 to 5 years work experience.

*  Professional Engineering License is preferred.
