The Steamship Authority is currently seeking to fill the position of Computer Technician at the Steamship Authority's Falmouth administrative office location. This is a full-time, non-union position that is responsible for hardware support, maintenance and satisfactory operational status of all computer equipment owned or operated by the Steamship Authority on a twenty-four hour basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Must be able to operate the Steamship Authority systems.
* Must be able to reload and restore any and all files or databases residing on Steamship Authority equipment.
* Identify, troubleshoot and resolve any problems user may incur while using any of the Steamship Authority systems.
* Install equipment and train personnel as required.
* Maintain tape, disc and software libraries, including tapes, ribbons, paper, etc.
* Assist and train users with Microsoft applications being used by the Steamship Authority.
* Resolve "user-related" software difficulties.
* Backup night operator, as required.
* Maintain any records related to nightly processing.
* Develop and maintain hardware inventories, including maintenance schedules and parts replacement on all PC's and related equipment.
* Responsible for documenting detail for all problems resolved, including telephone calls and off-site hardware maintenance for entry into a call log and problem tracking database.
* Configure, install and perform functional checkout procedures of equipment.
* On-site maintenance and troubleshooting of the PC's and related equipment.
* Perform routine maintenance and monthly preventative maintenance.
* Take weekend calls and be available for any system problems that may arise during the weekend scheduled to be on call.
* Train new employees on all shifts.
* Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
Required Knowledge:
* Mature work ethic and professional work manner.
* Basic and advanced troubleshooting skills.
* Basic and advanced network operating systems.
* Basic and advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications.
* Basic telecommunications and electronic theory.
* High School Diploma and other computer related courses.
* Must be available for on-call.
