Day Trips:

Bringing your car to the island for just one day may not really be necessary with the right information. Parking in-town and at the beaches may be difficult. As a foot passenger traveling to the islands, passenger reservations are not required and ferries run frequently in both directions. Passengers travelling between Hyannis and Nantucket using our seasonal High-Speed passenger only vessel, the M/V Iyanough are recommended to make advance reservations especially during the weekends in July, August and September, and during all major holiday weekends.

Generally, once you get to the Islands, there is public transportation that is easily accessible from the SSA terminals on both Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. There is much to do within walking distance of the ferries including charming shops, world-class restaurants, and scenic beaches. There are also plenty of taxis, tour buses, and car and bike rentals, all conveniently located. The most important thing to remember is day tripping to the Islands is such a wonderful experience while visiting Cape Cod.
