Since 1818, the vessels of the Steamship Authority and its predecessors have been traveling the waters of Woods Hole and Martha's Vineyard as well as Hyannis and Nantucket.

Today, our goal is to provide safe, convenient and reliable transportation to island residents and visitors. As the lifeline to the islands, we offer frequent year-round service for automobiles, trucks and passengers. Our U.S. Coast Guard certified crews are committed to the highest level of safety at sea.

Both islands are wonderful destinations for visitors. Whether you're traveling to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, Transit Authorities provide island-wide bus service, plus there are plenty of taxis, car rentals and bike rentals available.
